I was able to mail/distribute the invites and announcements for Zi’s birth/dedication. There are still a couple I need to send out. Perze suggested that we just make a Facebook event, so I finished that today. Here are the final images for her announcement/dedication. I did the photoshoot myself, which wasn’t easy with a fussy baby and uncooperative weather. I also did the invitations myself. There’s different versions because I didn’t complete all of them in one sitting:
Zi’s almost 2 months. After a month, she developed baby acne (like Emma), which is still ongoing, but it looks as if it’s progressively going away. I hope by next week, her skin will be smoother for her dedication. Right now, her cheeks are chaffing, hopefully making way for her new skin, without the pimples. Her sleeping habits have been heavenly. She’ll go into a long sleep around 12am, which lasts around 4-6 hours. Then she’ll feed for a couple of minutes and resume the night’s rest for another 3 hours. I’ve found this to be quite beneficial to my sanity. Her feeding is great. I nurse her for 90% of the time, only probably using 1 bottle during the day, or none at all. Then when Perze spends time with her at night, he’ll use at most, 2 bottles, then I take over and resume nursing her. She’s much chubbier than Emma at her age, and for some reason, I think it’s the breastmilk. Sometimes I call her ‘chibi chibi’. chibi It is an adjective that means small and/or miniature in a good or cute way. Normally used to describe (young) people or animals, and is endearing. This word, […]
Did I mention Zienne smiles now? We had the opportunity to coo over her smiles since her first week, but those were merely signs of some chemical happenings in her body. On her sixth week, she became socially aware of faces and showed her contentment through gummy grins. I’ve yet to take a picture because it’s still hard to capture, but her smiles are most likely induced from her interactions with her big sister Emma. Some extremely late nights, when I’m rocking her to sleep, drowsy with my own physical fatigue, I’ll find renewed strength from an innocent and simple contortion of her lips representing happiness. Funny how one simple movement of the ends of her mouth can change the weight of my spirit. Zi, you’re beautiful.
What a difference 6 weeks make. Zienne is no longer that semi jaundiced 6 pound baby that we brought home from the hospital. You’ve probably heard this a lot but this baby is so much behaved than her elder sister when she was her age. I must admit that I see pockets of Emma’s sassiness from time to time but this girl hasn’t really given us that much grief, ask wife for final word on this. Our only challenge now is for this girl to realize that we are supposed to sleep at night. My little baby owl here just does the opposite. Since she sleeps for 5 hours at a time during the day and sleeps in 30 minute increments at night. I thank God for you anak. I can’t wait to see who you are going to be when you grow up. Just don’t grow up too fast.
Our beloved daughter Zienne is officially a month young :). Her month-bday was spent going to the pediatrician to get her checked out. After being measured and weighed, here are her results: Weight: From 5lbs. 11oz. – 7lbs. 12oz. Height: From 18.75 in. – 20.5 in. The ped said she was doing really well, and as you can infer, she’s a great eater, sleeps well, and is pretty well behaved (considering her Ate Emma was “challenging”). She’s a breastfed baby, with an occasional bottle at night. At birth, we agreed she looked almost exactly like her Ate Em, but now, she’s really rounded out and now has features of her own, but resembling more like Perze (except the nose). She can control and hold her neck more; we don’t have to completely always support her head. She also is starting to abhor being carried on her back (like Ate), so when carried, she prefers being upright. She’s also pretty alert for long periods of time, and her sight can follow people and objects when they move in front of her. Another difference this time around is the absence of a pacifier. So far, we haven’t had to use it, so […]
I don’t know about other moms, but I love reusing the same clothes from my first daughter for my second. Every time I go through Emma’s (1st) clothes, I find myself getting so nostalgic, recalling the moments she’s worn them. Being a fan of fashion, I can usually remember the occasions when she’s worn specific clothes, esp. if that particular piece of clothing was a favorite of mine. Today, I’ve gone through numerous old clothes again for Zienne (2nd), and it made me a little sad that after the couple weeks of wearing them, I’d have to put them away again, thus ultimately and metaphorically saying goodbye to that specific phase of her infancy. Oh, who would have thought, tags saying 0-3 can make one such a sap. I’m such a sucker for that, and can’t seem to get over the sentimental emotions. *sigh* What can I say? I am one of those moms who are so in love with her children…and will probably one day transform into a horrible mess once the empty nest syndrome arrives, clinging to old pictures, cataloguing old videos, and stitching initials onto their children’s clothes made by their former swaddle blankets…hahah I laugh now, […]
