We all knew where Oscar was spending the night after last night’s awards show…so let’s just get to my short pick of fashion "yes" and "mmm…girl, to the NO!" First, YES! Kate Blanchet in this exquisite, no fail, ever classy lilac dress with a gorgeous dash of golden accents on the shoulders. The colors were insane to the fashion membrane. Mandy Moore hardly dresses her age, which is charming most of the times. She’s pretty vintage, so this romantic silhouette really suits her. Anne Hathaway may have one annoying voice, and might have been on caffeine doubleshots last night, but her first dress was made for the oscars, definitely dramatic. So let’s hear it for the "mmmm…girl…..NO," the "absoulte fail" category: Ashley Tinsdale and Vanessa Hudgens, I don’t even really want to discuss this…let’s just give some time to mourn the loss of some fabric…
I attended a wedding last week, wearing a cream ivory colored dress with a bolero that had these dusty pink beads on it. When I went to get Perze some new pants, I wandered into the women’s shoe section, as most women happen to do when they’re out looking for something totally different. It was meant to be because I found shoes that matched the dusty pink beads perfectly, a color and style that I’ve been eyeing for a while now, but never acted on since the shoes I wanted were around $80. It was meant to be because it was the right size, the only one that came in my size. And lastly, but unashamedly not the least……It was meant to be because it was only $9. YAY!
DC Buttercup plaid mod dress. Ok, so it’s not my overall favorite dress, standing on its own, with its awkward poufy back, and illusion-giving pockets (hence, no pockets! grrrr), but if accessorize correctly, this is incredibly charming. I wore it last Sunday and with it came affirmations of a unique style matching my personality. I took it as a good thing with a glass half full type of thank you :). I do love vintage inspired fashion. I paired this with mustard yellow stockings, and brown oxford wedges, under my waffle mustard yellow coat. Is it worth the retail priace of $150? No. The style is great, but not worth that much. On clearance? YES. They’re clearing their inventory to make room for their spring collection, but it’s difficult to snatch their clothes that are selling might fast.
So it’s Valentine’s Day. To make it short, fellas, if you need something for your ladies, eenie meenie miny mo it from this list. I will try not to include clothes and shoes because that would make my list deliciously long, and I’ll update it from time to time up until Valentine’s day. pop flower$75(get the one in white for the classic gal, pink if she’s feisty) faboooosh$350(if your gal is not a wallflower, with a bit of whimsy in her combo number 5, and not afraid to set trend, this would be it) no.12$65 (you can also get this in blush, for the romantic ones) Henrik Vibskov Bike Bag$350(you don’t know how romantic this gift is…it screams vintage. It also says, ‘let’s bike ride and have a picnic." Totally ideal for the ladies who love to ride to that certain spot and needs to carry a few favorite books and a bit to eat. I can already hear the nerdy girls swooning.) Other People’s Love Letters$22.99 Pride and Prejudice $19.99 (it’s not just one of the greatest love stories, but the beauty of the golden cloth cover, and men, stay away if your woman hates to read.) After getting my Macbook Air, I’ve been looking for messenger bags or satchels that can carry my laptop while matching my style of clothing. I REALLY love vintage inspired items and accessories rather than incredibly expensive name brands, but sometimes even the vintage inspired gets a little pricey. These choices below, however cost MUCH less than those very well known designer bags, and really do scream Marchesa more. They’re all real leather and have received top reviews from people I admire in fashion. What do you think? I’m SO torn between the top two. For YEARS now, I’ve wanted boots like these, but not exactly these. I happened to see these BEAUTIFUL Dolce Vita boots on sale for $125 (retailing $360) on one of the shopping sites I joined with that reduces their prices to sample sale prices. Once I saw these boots, I was in love. I quickly went to my online closet and sold some items that I hardly use and wear, and finally got the funds to pay for and make room for my first ever pair of Dolce Vitas. When they arrived, they were everything I thought they’d be, soft leather, pliable, expensive looking, and fierce. I honestly can’t complain; there’s nothing to whine about with these boots. The only problem would be my thin legs, allowing the shaft to hang a bit loosely and thus drooping slightly, causing the zipper end to dangle to the floor. But aesthetic-wise, I love wearing them. They’re comfortable, easy to walk in, and G O R G E O U S. That same day, I introduced my Dolce Vita to my Leifsdottir, and they fell in love.
