Elle at two weeks old: She’s truly a mix of Emma and Zi. When she’s fed, dry, and had enough sleep, she has long moments of just looking at her surroundings, esp. the people who talk to her. Her eyes follow the louder voices and she stares at us curiously. We’re all very excited to know more and more of who she is and who she’ll become, even though we each have our guesses. One’s thing for sure, she’s ultimately kissable.
Yesterday, after we took Elle to her follow up exam after taking her home, the doctor informed us that she was jaundiced and that she had to get blood work done that day. We weren’t really surprised since our previous daughters also had the same thing, so we took her home and fed her more formula than offering her to work on breastfeeding. Perze took full control of her feeding and made sure she tried to drink every 2-3 hours, finishing 2 oz. of milk, although Elle was more sleepy than hungry, due to the doctor’s visit, billirubin, and all the formula. (Elle, your dad is so devoted and in love with you.) I also made sure I started pumping milk while Elle was drinking from the bottle, as not to lose demand. Today, we took her again to get another billirubin count which confirmed that her numbers went down! Praise God for that. In addition, praise God that my milk finally came in which means Elle will get more breastmilk. I know it may be TMI for a blog, but I know how difficult this issue can be for women who just gave birth and waiting, asking, hoping, struggling. […]
This is how they all started. Can you tell which one is which? Emma, Zi, Elle
We kept expecting her to come on August 2012 but she chose a month all to herself and made her appearance the very first day of September. Here’s our family’s calendar breakdown: April: Perze’s bday May: Zi’s bday June: Our Anniversary July: Emma’s bday August: Marchesa’s bday September: ELLE’S BDAY!!! So, yes, we’re taking all of spring and summer. And although we’ve been waiting what it seemed like forever, now we’re really liking this new date arrangement. In the few weeks ahead, hopefully, we’ll be able to blog about her birth story, as our tradition with our other kids…knowing they’ll appreciate reading it one day. We try to take time to archive such special moments in our lives, mainly so they, as well as we, can see where we’ve been. And happenstance, hopefully some reader will be blessed with some party of our story. Well, here’s to another chapter called Elleonai. Please keep updated…
37 weeks: Baby is as long as a stalk of Swiss chard Pregnancy Updates I’m going to my weekly appointments now, and last week, I was informed that I was already a centimeter dilated. This week, I’m finally FULL TERM, and 1.5 cm dilated. This means that if I go into labor, the baby will not be a preemie and will not have to undergo further treatment at the NICU. I feel ok, although something tells me I might go into labor earlier than my expected due date. The Braxton Hicks contractions are more and more frequent each day, and recently, some contractions have been very discomforting. Nesting I have everything in order already on my part- the baby bag, the infant seat carrier, her clothes, etc…it’s more Perze who needs to step up his A game like the crib, and furniture, and moving stuff out of our room to make room for her. But he gets home from work a little late sometimes and needs to rest or work out, so I try to give him some allowance. One day, we’ll have to tackle all the things that need to be done in one day, no excuses. I’m more […]
36 weeks: Baby is the size of a crenshaw melon Almost there. 🙂 It’s amazing how in a couple of weeks, we’ll be seeing our third child, introducing her to our two beautiful daughters who are so excited to meet her, who pray for her daily. Our bets are on her resembling baby Emma, just like Zienne. Weight Gain So far, I’ve gained about 24 lbs. Being in my last month, I’ve gone back to craving fruits more than heavy amounts of food. I don’t even really know why I’m gaining weight because I eat like a chicken. I do, however, fancy ice cream and soda, lemonades, and shakes- mainly because it’s summer and they just make everything feel so much better, so I drink in large quantities. Also, like I told Perze, I know how that verse feels like “like a deer that pants for water, so my soul longs for Thee.” Ya…my body has such a craving for water, so much so that sometimes I’m obsessed by it if I procrastinate with attaining water to drink. It makes me feel guitly, and even reminded how much God wants us to long for him in that way. Tell Me […]
