Births are miraculous and weddings are beautiful. But when you are a child of God, when He holds your hand through death, even funerals can have a profundity that digs deep into your consciousness to search what is truly meaningful in the span of life. The perspective urges you to make a pivot from your norm, into a path you’d prefer to take in the hopes that when you have reached that finish line, you yourself have left a legacy that will also help forge another that you’ve left behind.
I think I joined choir when I was Emma’s age. I also was asked to sing alto because I knew how to sing harmony. But I was very far from where Emma is musically now, mainly because of her confidence and vocal skill. Yesterday, as I was in front singing for praise and worship, I saw her Ate Genny help her with her robe and I was smiling from ear to ear to see how long the robe was on her. All sorts of emotions ran through me- ranging from the past to the future. It is really quite a thing to see time embodied in your children.
You can say all you want about B.Obama, but I’m going to miss Michelle as First Lady. Having earned two Ivy League degrees, as First Lady, she has made programs, working with the biggest companies, with bipartisan support, to create better nutrition for our nation’s children and promoting physical health. She has been involved with programs for encouraging and empowering young females in education and learning. She has set programs for young people to reach higher levels of education, past high school. And worked in an initiative to ensure help and support for veterans throughout their lives. Not to mention, being a role model as a devoted wife and mother. She is an incredible speaker, respectable in her profession, and classy in her demeanor and temperament.
