I don’t normally do this, but I found this text conversation very comforting, as one of my dear friends randomly opened up a huge question before us. It ended up being a realization about friendship. Rogie : Seriously, in your opinion, what makes a person beautiful? Marchesa : Humility and service. When someone gives of themselves selflessly and helps people. Rogie : Amen to that Marchesa : Why Rogie : Its a good topic of conversation/discussion. Also a good self evaluation. SELFLESSLY is the key Perze : being selfless is different from being beautiful . I’ll stick with the quote: beauty is in the eye of the beholder Marchesa : That’s too general. But personally, if you’re asked what connotes beauty to you, it becomes subjective Perze : This jeep can’t be selfless but Rogie will think it’s beautiful. That’s why it’s in the eye of the beholder Marchesa : The question was mr Perze, what makes a person beautiful Perze : there’s “generic” standards of beauty Marchesa : I think it was meant to be a personal subjective question Perze : A blind person would describe beauty differently Marchesa : He’s not asking a blind person. He asked you Perze : He didn’t ask me. He asked us Marchesa : What makes someone beautiful to […]
One of the saddest songs on this earth must be Leaving On a Jet Plane. It has to be. I mean, “I’d hate to wake you up to say goodbye…” must be one of the loneliest images because it must be an incredibly early flight because everyone but him is asleep. The knowledge of inevitability, and being the first to feel that is a huge burden, to feel alone in that misery during that minute moment because the other part of your heart is still dreaming. This has really no relation to what I’m about to blog about- the girls’ first day of school. But as I looked out Emma’s window and saw all the leaves blowing and falling onto the ground, it reminded me that it is soon fall. It is a whisper of fall. It is a sign that we must start getting ready to bear near coldness and chill, that seasons are passing the baton again, and it will soon be time for pensive moments over coffee. I guess it’s because Elleonai’s birthday quickly passed and hit me unexpectedly and I’m once again catching up on writing about her milestones. And because the girls are now in […]
Most of our students go back to school this week as the first week of September. Will you join us as we pray for our preschoolers, elementary, middle school, high school, and college students as they embark on another scholastic year? Their generation is faced not only with scholastic pressures, but many cultural pressures that do not align with Biblical teachings. May we pray for their safety, their resolve to aim for excellence, and cultivate a life of integrity and love, and to be testimonies of God’s love. Pray that they will seek wisdom and fear from God and will not compromise their convictions. Pray that their will be surrounded by enriching and encouraging friends and teachers. Pray that our students will discover and live out their God-given purposes and a generation that will live to give glory to the Father. We are praying for you, students!
Happy birthday to our beloved Elleonai, who turns 3 today. She is filled with amazing surprises, esp. With her adamant nature of conquering challenges of independence so she could show us that she could be just like her older sisters. Everywhere we go, strangers come up to me to ask how old she is because she’s usually very very garrulous and loud, so her conversations are not normally what 2 year olds say, mainly also because she is so influenced by the older ones. Some of my favorites is when she says, “it’s kinda like”, “I’ll do it myself” and “seriously” or “don’t judge me, I’m a fox today” and when she starts out a conversation with “actually”. If you sit down and talk with her, chances are you’d laugh over her sense of humor. I’m telling you now that I feel she’s gonna be the funniest of the three. She also has a deep love for music and singing, catching lyrics & learning songs very quickly and even controlling what we listen to during our car rides. She really enjoys singing in public, on stage, in Target, on the toilet… She is definitely a different force from her sisters, […]
