In behalf of our family, we just sincerely want to thank everyone who came to Elle’s 1st birthday party! Thank you to those who helped us prepare. It was a sincere show of support and love, even though I know she’s still too young to understand it. There were a couple of unmarked presents, so we’ll post pictures we hope people will claim so we can properly thank you!! Also, pictures of the posted #ElleTurns1 that showed up realtime on the laptop that day, pictures from the photo booth, and pictures we took from our camera will all be shared this week. If you took pictures and post them #ElleTurns1, they automatically go to our Flickr album that will be viewable this week. We hope you had a fun time enjoying the last hoorahs of the summer weather! Again, we’re blessed to call you family and friends.
While putting the girls to bed, Emma decided to give Zienne some wisdom she learned in the 3 years she’s been in school. She said, “Remember, Zi, if you get scared, just think of all the verses we learned that will help you know the ways of righteousness.” I don’t remember being that wise at eight. Emma is such a great older sister. God really knew who needed to go first. 🙂
In Emma’s heart is a gigantic room for Zienne. She took time, on her own volition, to teach her little sister how to tie shoe laces. As the little sister, zi always welcomes new knowledge from her older sister. If it was me trying to teach Zienne, she’d already lose patience and tell me she knows how to tie the laces, but with her Ate Emma, she’ll sit and observe. I love capturing moments like this, stealing them from time before they vanish.
Today, we want to wish our beloved little Elleonai a happy 1st birthday! We’re extremely excited for this new year of her life and want to share snippets of who she was since birth. We can only get tiny glimpses of who she will become, and we’re just thankful that God continues to bless her, ultimately blessing us through her life. Anak, this day came too fast. None of us were ready, even your sisters, esp. Ate Emma who cried the night before you turned one. But you kept growing, slipping through our fingers and showing us you can handle becoming a big girl, assuring us with your smiles. Anak, thank you for those smiles. Since your first week, you’ve given us such pleasure by smiling at us. We love being your parents. We love seeing your progress and personality bud. As you grow, know how much we love you, anak, our beautiful Elle. We promise to always lift you up in prayer, surround you in laughter, teach you the best of what can be, and hold you when you fall.
