Happy Father’s Day to my beloved husband, Perze Ababa. One of the best investments I made when choosing my husband was seeing him rise as a loving, God-fearing, integrity living dad. I had a glimpse years ago that he would make an incredible dad, but it’s different when that love is put into action, esp. the moments that really define his sacrifice for his children and for me. We’re so blessed. We love you, mahal! This year, for the Father’s Day celebration service in SJBCI, I dressed my girls in their dad’s ties, and Perze being the special honoree- wearing a yellow polkadot bowtie. All the ties and bow are the same brand, actually my absolute favorite men’s brand that have really awesome retro/vintage patterns that goes way back to my dad’s old clothes as well. I think I’m going to make this a fashion tradition every Father’s Day :), having the children wear Perze’s ties/bowties. A lot of the church members thought it was a cute idea, even makes a great statement in the pictures, resounding Pastor Ding’s sentiment that Fathers should live lives worthy for their children to imitate, making them proud to hear the statement, “you are […]
Emma came home today with a surprise for us! She was given another medal this year for being the Peacemaker for April. We thought she wasn’t going to get one, but I’m glad they’re giving them out even though she got one for Kindergarten. It reminds us of all of the medals Perze earned all throughout his school years. We just hope she continues to work hard for achievements, no matter what they are in life- school or out of school. Congrats again, Emmanuelle.
So today is the start of Zienne’s specific drawn out skin therapy sessions at home. We took her to the determatologist that successfully treated Emma years ago. Every day, we are to: give Zi a bleach bath for 10 mins apply medicated lotion after the bath apply aquaphor lotion 10 mins after the bath apply medicated lotion once more during the day apply moisturizer lotion during the day take antibiotics twice a day take antihistamine once a day Then of course, she’s recommended only to wear certain types of fabrics and we’re still to wash everything in dreft that touches her skin. Also we’re to have the air conditioner on every day so she doesn’t heat up. Additionally, we should have a humidifier in the room. Lastly, we still have to schedule an appointment with the allergy doctor to see if she has any specific allergies. There you have it. Today is day one. We’ll let you know in a week if there’s any progress and by July 2, we have another appointment with the doctor. Above all, we cover her in prayers, as we’ve done with Emma. It’s a tedious process, but one I hope she will […]
Last Saturday two major things took place that are worth sharing. One, my nephew, Samuel Hong had his graduation from his first year of Chinese School! It was a great achievement, learning so many characters and writing them out for every Saturday of the year. Now it’s finally done and he can rest for a little while. He graduated second in his class so we’re extremely proud of all he’s accomplished, even the accomplishment of giving up his Saturday mornings. Congrats Ate and Kuya Sam for your little graduate! Their grad blog: HERE. Second, we want to congratulate such a milestone in my goddaughter’s life- Micaela Joan, as she was dedicated last Saturday. She was very docile and cooperative throughout the service, and finally was rewarded with a warm bottle of milk to recharge her energy for the rest of the festivities. Congrats Reen and Mes. May God continually find favor in her life, as a vessel for His glory. I was able to do the invitations for them.
Parents can set the example by just being themselves rather than trying to be perfect. — Mister Rogers I love this quote. As Emma gets older, I always make it a point to tell her when I’m wrong, when I’ve made mistakes, and when I need her forgiveness. I want her growing up knowing I’m not perfect, but for her to trust me as her mom, as who God has given her to raise her because He is perfect.
Emma’s birthday is coming up soon and I know many people have asked me what she could possibly want. Here’s one suggestion: Tooth Fairy Pillow Emma loses teeth like no one’s cavity and growing them just as fast. I think she’s gone through more than six baby teeth already and still counting. One time, she even took out her own teeth, wiggled that bad boy and pulled it out. Gross I know Point is, she’s making a killing with the tooth fairy, so this is a nice way to trade in the old tooth for some crispy green paper without losing the tooth under the pillow. you can find it here
They’re selling this online at my favorite store for $15. It’s a strawberry on the outside, and when you open it up, it becomes a reusable bag for your shopping needs to save on plastic bags that just pile up in your home. I love it! The only reason why I’m blogging it though is because I bought 10 of these at the dollar store for a dollar each. I tried going to different dollar stores for more but they were out. Too bad. At least I was able to snatch some up and give some to my sister. I usually just tie it around my baby bag just in case I need it.
