I made this today to add to my ‘stacking bracelets’ … Gold stretch cross bracelet with bow accent. I actually had my eye on an MK one but it was just a straight bar. Plus, it was $65. So I decided to make my own. Fits all wrists because it’s stretchy. Like?
So, Emma is now on to becoming a second grader! This was her the last day of school for the summer. Looking Back I can’t stop looking at this picture because I still remember the first day I saw that face, the first time I held her, the first time she said ‘mamam’, the first time she sang a song, memorized her first memory verse, and so forth. Now, she’s heading to 2nd grade, almost a size 1 in girls shoes, can play 2 scales on the piano, learned how to read, tie her shoes, recieved her first kiss from a boy who had a crush on her. She started in E reading level this year. She finished in level M. She worked hard every day to make sure she read 20 mins a day, sometimes even longer. She also started writing more and more, and even learned how to Tweet short funny sentences like “Mamam, zi’s not eating.” She also got a medal for being a Peacemaker this year again. She sang in the Christmas and Easter Cantata, sang her 1st special number with Zienne, and even sang her first solo in our church Easter Cantata this […]
Yes! We finally had a date night when we were able to go out by ourselves for our Sixnineteen 8th wedding anniversary. Thankfully, my sister babysat the girls, then my parents came over to play with them since my dad came home from the Philippines after a long stay there. My dad said that they invite everyone during anniversaries, but we’re ALWAYS with the girls during every occassion. And I believe birthdays should be shared, but anniversaries? Who would want to be around for that, all the hand holding and gooey “remember whens”? Perze found a seafood restaurant that took reservations and had a high zagat rating, called Blue Point Grill in Princeton, just twenty mins away. I’ve always loved that area near the campus, so we decided to try it and without regret, we’ll be dining there frequently for awesome seafood cravings. I ordered their crab cakes and thought they were the best I’ve tasted, without reservation. They give you 2 huge jumbo lump crab cakes that is ALL crab. Perze had their giant scallops wrapped in bacon and topped with sauce. I almost ate Perze’s dish. 🙂 Of course, I had their dessert with some coffee, […]
One of our members in our praise team posted this on our group forums so I wanted to share it. It’s a prayer that John Piper shared in one of his books: “Eternal Father, you never had a beginning. You will never have an ending. You are Alpha and the Omega. This we believe, because you have revealed it to us. Our hearts leap up with gratitude thatyou opened our eyes to see and know that Jesus Christ is your eternal, divine Son, begotten, not made, and that you, O Father, and he, your Son, are one God. We tremble even to take such glorious truths on our lips for fear of dishonoring you with withering and inadequate words. But we must speak, because we must praise you. Silence would shame us, and the rocks themselves would cry out. You must be praised for who you are in the world you have made. And we must thank you because you have made us taste and see the glory of Jesus Christ, your Son. Oh, to know him! Father, we long to know him. Banish from our minds low thoughts of Christ. Saturate our souls with the Spirit of Christ and […]
So end of the year for Emma coming up in 30 2 days, including today. Yay! On to 2nd grade! I’ve been postponing finding a gift for her teacher this year, so my husband and I went out to Target to try to find a suitable practical gift that she might use and also get a kick out of. We found these soy candles and bought the Red Velvet and Sweet Spun (cotton candy) ones to make a “you’re a sweet teacher” theme. So you’ll need 2 medium candles. You’ll also need: 2 ribbons (lying around, or Dollar Store, Craft Store: $1) 1 reusable tote bag (Dollar Store $1) Ready? Don’t get lost with all the difficult directions! 😛 Just place your 2 candles on top of each other vertically in the middle of the tote bag, roll up the bag securely, then tie the ribbons TIGHTLY at the ends. And there you have it! A themed, GREEN, personal, practical gift in minutes, without having to use wrapping. Best thing, $12 tops. And the teacher gets to wind down with the candles, every time, maybe even bringing quick memories of your child during the school year (although, I don’t know […]
Happy Sixnineteen!!!! In eight years, we’ve had 3 kids (1 on the way), the 1st when I was 25, 2nd when I was 29, and now that I am turning 33. We’ve lived in 2 apartments and bought our 1st house. We’ve been through milestones and huge hurdles of faith together. We’ve been through richer and poorer, sickness and health. I know there will be even more challenges to come, as 8 years is nothing compared to the beauty of those who successfully go before us, but I can honestly say as the years go by, marriage gets deeper in meaning and the joys and blessings are ones to never take for granted. I love you Perze. Only God knows what is laid before us in the years to come, but I’ll be standing right there with you, jumping with you in joyous moments, and beside you on our knees through every season! *note: When I first read this poem, I remember crying because it was exactly how I love you. It has become our poem for us, so I continue to repost it every anniversary until we are old, gray, and toothless: [i carry your heart with me] BY E. E. CUMMINGS […]
From BabyCenter Easy as 1-2-3 Kids under 3 may be able to rattle off a few numbers, but they don’t necessarily have a sense of what those words mean. Now your child is getting the idea of counting in sequence and may even be starting to understand that these numbers correspond to a quantity. This is a giant cognitive leap! You can reinforce beginning math in many everyday ways (no flash cards necessary). ————————————- This is totally Zienne these days. She wanted me to download an app on the iPad that will allow her to count items, or even add simple small numbers. She even asks me to go through math workbooks with her that involves counting. When she wants something, she’ll ask for a specific number and hold up her little fingers. If she asks how many bites she has left in her meal, she’ll say, “how about 3 more bites?” and then hold up 3 fingers. Also, I’ve noticed that she’s trying to be more conscious of time. She’ll ask her dad, “can you come back in 5 minutes?” or “give me 2 minutes. I have to pee pee.” She’s not just counting out of memorization, but […]
