Did I mention Zienne smiles now?
We had the opportunity to coo over her smiles since her first week, but those were merely signs of some chemical happenings in her body. On her sixth week, she became socially aware of faces and showed her contentment through gummy grins. I’ve yet to take a picture because it’s still hard to capture, but her smiles are most likely induced from her interactions with her big sister Emma.
Some extremely late nights, when I’m rocking her to sleep, drowsy with my own physical fatigue, I’ll find renewed strength from an innocent and simple contortion of her lips representing happiness. Funny how one simple movement of the ends of her mouth can change the weight of my spirit.
Zi, you’re beautiful.
