The above photo shows Alain Robert right below the protest banner that he just put up right outside my floor. At that time, some members of the NYPD were in our floor preparing to climb. Climb where? They eventually caught up with Mr. Robert at the top floor and escorted him out of the building. Here’s a link to the story from one of our Bloggers, http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/05/man-scales-new-york-times-building/. And here is his Times Topic Page, http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/r/alain_robert/index.html . Here’s a video from across the 8th floor of the building: Here’s the rest of the pictures I took from my measly HTC 8525:
mastered at 2 years & 9 months: John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son. That whosoever would believe in Him, will not perish but have everlasting life. We used to teach her “God loves me,” but when she mastered that and her vocabulary shot up last winter, we decided to teach her the full verse. We would recite it every night before going to bed, part of her routine, after she prays and sings some songs. Starting off with teaching her the verse was a little slow, but once she got the first half, she quickly memorized the second half. Praise God for what He’s doing in her. Hope you guys are blessed.
So last Saturday, Perze wanted to watch Iron Man w/ Rogie. But Leila wanted to watch SITC with me. Perfect! Not quite. Stuck in the equation was Emma…so I told Perze to just join the couple to watch Iron Man, but like a caring husband, he felt bad leaving Emma with me while he enjoyed a Marvel movie. So we talked about it and finally risked it. We decided to try Emma out on her first theater experience. So all five of us took our seats that night and were surprised to see Emma be so behaved! It didn’t just surprise me, it made me proud that we got her accustomed to behaving and listening in public, AND that she met us halfway and abided to those rules. It definitely takes both parent and child to work together, each bearing responsibilities to make things work. Sooooooo…this opens a lot of doors for us, having been theater deprived for a couple years now, unless my parents take care of Em. At the middle of the movie, Emma wanted more milk so we went to the concession stand to inquire for milk. They failed to sell milk so I told Emma. She […]
Iron Man Greatly casted, with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, an older indulgent billionaire who plays as hard as he works. What I love about this marvel hero was all the exciting gadgetry, eye candy for geeks and nerds worldwide. That is definitely something I can admire in a super hero. I also loved his assistant- Pepper Pots. I mean, how cool is having an extremely hot assistant who can run away from an enormous robot in Gucci 4 inch heels- named Pepper Pots?! I also loved that they casted Robert Downey Jr., unlike so many movies out there that have been downing the age in casting their super heroes. I’d totally watch this movie again. Robert Downey Jr. is finally getting his credit…
During church announcements today, I addressed the congregation, updating them on the YB’s Old Testament reading from last weekend. I wanted to really stress the importance of this event, not to impress people, but more to encourage the YB for their arduous commitment to reading and giving up their weekend to read Scripture straight through. Additionally, I wanted to encourage the congregation to take up similar personal challenges to read on their own. Our Youth study consisted of a discussion over the contents of what they’ve read and the benefits of reading it straight through. We were really able to cover the deep connections between the Old Testament and New Testament, and how the differences were definably mastered by God for a perfect reason. We discussed the analogies between OT and NT sacrifices and offerings, the priesthood, and the importance of holiness. Most importantly, we discussed the necessity of all the specific numerous laws on God’s people, and how that ultimately led to Jesus. Recap: the YB spent 2 days staying up to read the Old Testament, from Genesis- Deuteronomy, reading audibly and taking turns until they finished all books. As I was talking w/ them during the youth study […]
