Once upon a time, in a land far-far away there was a princess named Emma. Princess Emma lived in a castle with King Tatay and Queen Mama. One day,Princess Emma went out to play with her friends. Prince Hong-Hong, Prince Baby Seph, Princess Ella, and Princess Erika were waiting for Princess Emma so they can play hide and seek. After many hours of playing everybody decided to play one more game. Princess Emma tried to hide but didn’t realize she was already inside the Magic Forest. While she was hiding behind a bush, Princess Emma heard very loud rumbling noises. Princess Emma got scared and tried to go back to the castle but couldn’t because she was already lost inside the magic forest. The loud rumbling noises got closer and closer, and Princess Emma realized the noises were coming from a Dragon. The dragon saw Princess Emma and started running towards her. The dragon was screaming saying "I am so Hungry, I will eat you". Princess Emma stood up and faced the Dragon. She raised her hands and In her loudest scream, she said, "STOP!" The dragon froze on his tracks and told Princess Emma, "But I am so hungry, […]
Congrats to the newly married couple, who said their vows June 21, 2008: Jean & Mike We really enjoyed ourselves that night, being honored to have shared in their celebration. The food was brimming over, really indulging our palates, and even serving lechon and chip & spinach dip. We were so stuffed by the end of the night. Their cocktail hour was held outside on a terrace at Martinsville Inn, with live music being played. We danced to a live band who had very diverse party music. I was also impressed with the very personal unique ideas they had like the entourage mini dances during their introduction at the reception, and Mike&Jean’s ever skillful salsa dance! I know people usually have routine dances, but they looked like they’ve been doing that for years and years with each other, just very graceful and creative and not so much rehearsed. We got home past midnight, but it was worth seeing them so happy. It was an added treat that I got to see all my college friends who I hardly get to see during the year. It’s always such a happy time for me to talk to them and for them to […]
Last Sunday, the youth extended their greetings regarding my wedding anniversary. One particular person recounted the day, having been the only one who crashed our VERY intimate wedding. She commented, saying that she liked our wedding because it was very intimate and sweet, having the focus really on us getting married. Now, I understand that every wedding, grand or intimate, is about the couple, but sometimes, I find that one can get lost in the details, in pleasing the enormous guest list, in topping people’s expectations, and worrying about the day’s event and everyone participating in the program. Those are some thorns that may accompany the blessings of a big wedding. Our wedding, I believe that the comment made about it held one truth to it, which is the one focus of Perze and I simply getting married. The very few friends who were able to witness it have mentioned their honor in attending such an emotional event. We hardly really get to share the details about it, because there was no band, no hair appointment weeks ahead, no flowers down the aisle. I can’t tell you what our wedding dance was like, what theme or color my bridesmaids wore, […]
This is Emma with her Donald Trump Impersonation. You gotta love the hair! Makes me smile remembering these moments.
4 years ago, yesterday, was when I walked the aisle with Marchesa. That was a bitter-sweet day as we tried to recall what we wore, how marchesa had such an awesome hair dresser, and how nervous we were. That really was a day to remember. It showed how brave we both were. So we started our life together with so many uncertainties but we hung on to every bit of blessing and surprises God put on our way. 12 months and 2 weeks later, Emma would come out. I guess you can say that since then, she has been the focal point of our relationship. So in celebration of our anniversary yesterday, we decided that we celebrate as a family. Well, maybe because NJTransit was kind enough to let me win 2 tickets to Great Adventure despite how much I rag on their service (that’s another blog). We used our free tickets to show Emma the Safari at Great Adventure, and rode on all possible kiddie rides. At one point we were at the Congo Rapids ride, and while we were still in line, Emma fell asleep. It must have been 40 minutes before we got our turn. Emma Had […]

Today, Em woke both of us up around 7am. We woke up to repetitions of the first stanza of Amazing Grace. With a full voice, she kept singing it, just because she couldn’t sleep and probably because the song was in her head. It was just so unexpected, and incredibly sweet to wake up to. We turned to her and smiled immensely. She smiled back and asked me if I was happy. Her voice in song is so sweeeeeeeeet. Then she told me she loved that song. It’s those times I really wish I could video, to show her years later, how wonderful she was even as a baby.
